Agent Diane is a voice-notes app. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: by default your audio and its transcription stay on your device; note text is sent — optionally — for AI processing, and audio leaves the device only if you enable the optional encrypted Server Backup. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party tracking.
If you sign in with your e-mail and turn on Server Backup, a copy of your notes and audio is stored on our server (Hetzner, Finland) so you can restore everything on a new device by signing in with the same e-mail. Backups are encrypted at rest with per-account keys; access requires your e-mail sign-in. We do not read or process your backup content. You can delete your backup at any time from the app, and it is removed from our server.
If you turn on iCloud sync, your note text and topics are synced through your own private iCloud (CloudKit) account so your notes appear on your other devices. This data lives in your iCloud and is governed by Apple’s privacy terms. Audio is not synced through iCloud. You can leave sync off.
When AI features are enabled (text cleanup, summaries, task extraction, and “Ask Diane”), the text of the relevant notes is sent to large-language-model providers to generate the result. Specifically:
You can disable cloud AI in Settings; the app still records and transcribes on-device without it.
You can delete any note (30-day Trash, then permanent), export all your notes to Markdown, turn cloud AI or iCloud sync off, and delete the app to remove local data. To request account/data deletion, email us.
Agent Diane is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
